This winter has had some strange weather, even by Virginia standards.  Cold enough in late November and early December that most of the ski resorts in the area were able to open well before Christmas.  I got some new skis a week after Christmas and have been excited to try them out.  My old skis are 25 years old and just worn out.  Of course, that is exactly when summer decided to return!  Skiing is currently out of the question – in fact, Whitetail Resort has even had to shut down skiing down this week because all their snow has melted away.  (We’re supposed to be getting some colder weather later in the week, so hopefully they’ll be reopened for the weekend!)

But, the temporary summer infiltration means it is great for riding a bike! As it was 70* on Sunday, a friend an I went out for a 70 mile ride.  It was absolutely gorgeous out!  Only had to fight the wind in a few spots, we were mostly able to just cruise along.  Pretty awesome to ride in January without even a jacket!

The weather is fickle, but thankfully, we have so much to do around here no matter what the weather is.  Skiing is nearby when it’s cold enough.  When it’s warm, there’s always biking, hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures all within close proximity.  The Shenandoah Valley is a great place to live if you are into getting out and having fun!

And of course, if you need help with your bike or skis or need info on where to go for adventure, we have you covered!  We are happy to help you take advantage of whatever nature throws our way during the winter.

Get out! Have Fun!
