Here we’ll introduce you to who you will meet when you walk in our doors. We all love cycling and the outdoor

Josh Lewis, owner

Cycling started as my passion, and became my life! I first got into mountain biking back in 2002 when I purchased a Giant Warp DS, an entry-level full suspension bike. I had a ton of fun learning, and desired to get more people out sharing the trails with me. I took a part-time job at Performance Bike in 2004, where I worked for just over a year. In 2006, I took a full-time job here at Element Sports, where I stayed for 4 years before trying my hand at a few other things. After this hiatus, I came back and found that the owner was looking to retire, so in 2014, I bought his inventory and started running the shop as my own. I have pared down our product line to sports I know and love so that I can best serve our customers.

Mountain biking remains my first love, but you’ll find me frequently on the road bike, and even out on a kayak occasionally. And though you’ll often find me hammering on a bike when not in the shop, I also have a family I enjoy taking out on hikes and mellow rides for fun. I have explored many of the roads and trails in the Shenandoah Valley, and I am always happy to point you toward great places to ride and explore!

Gary Moon

Gary is our mechanic extraordinaire. Gary has been in the bike industry since the early 90’s, first starting with Winchester Bicycle Center, which later morphed into Element Sports. He has occasionally gone to work elsewhere, but he’s always come back home. If you have any questions about a bike, Gary will know the answer. And if he doesn’t know, then it isn’t worth knowing!

Garrett joined us part-time in the fall of 2020, and moved up to full-time in March 2021. Garrett has worked in the bike industry for about 8 years. Some of his favorite activities include cycling (of course), kayaking, going to the gym, and live music. Garrett is a fully Shimano S-Tech certified mechanic, with certifications from Bosch, Giant, Jamis, SRAM, and others.

Ben Lewis

Son of the owner Josh, Ben started helping out at the shop as a freshman in high school. Now in his first year of college, you’ll usually find him out on his mountain bike if not at school. Other activities he enjoys include skiing, skateboarding, kayaking, and gaming.

Calvin P.

Another high schooler who loves mountain biking, Calvin is a regular face you’ll see here at the shop. He is also a member of the Velociraptor team, and even finished 3rd overall in his division last season!

Gabe D.

A high school student who comes in to help us out once a week, Gabe is a mountain bike enthusiast. He loves going fast and hitting big drops. He is a member of the Velociraptor mountain bike team in West Viriginia.

Justin Corbin

Justin came on part-time in June 2020. Though he has a full-time job, Justin comes in to help whenever he has the opportunity. Still learning the finer details of mountain biking, he loves to work on his skills and progress. You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone give you a friendlier greeting!

Derek Tudge

Derek started as a customer, buying his first high-end of mountain bike from us. He loved it so much he started coming in and volunteering, helping us by assembling bikes. Eventually, in March of 2021 he officially started with us part-time. If he isn’t at his regular job, you’ll find him here, on the trail, or washing his truck.
