HISTORY OF ELEMENT SPORTS

IN BUSINESS SINCE 1996

Element Sports began as Winchester Bicycle Center. In April 1996, John Todd purchased Winchester Bicycle Center, moved it to Apple Blossom Corners on South Pleasant Valley Road, and renamed the store Element Sports.

Todd expanded the store’s product lines to include outdoor sporting goods beyond bicycles, recognizing that many cycling enthusiasts also enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. He later relocated the store to its current location on South Loudoun Street.

In August 2014, the store changed ownership again when Josh Lewis—a former employee, local resident, and cycling enthusiast—purchased the business. Under new ownership, the goal has been to carry Element Sports into the next generation while continuing its tradition of excellent products and exceptional service.

We understand that our customers are looking for value: products that perform extremely well without breaking the bank. To support that goal, we have introduced new brands that provide outstanding quality and value.

We are also expanding the services we offer. Element Sports now provides professional bike fittings by certified fitters—something the store had never offered before. In addition, we are branching out into guided tours. During the winter months, riders can bring their bikes to the store and use our trainers so they don’t have to train alone at home.

As always, our staff are experts on where to go to enjoy the outdoors, and we even provide maps to help you discover these wonderful places.
